As TikTok's future hangs in limbo, Williams and other TikTok users are ramping up efforts to drive followers to other social media platforms, such as Instagram and Google's YouTube. The Trump administration on Thursday issued an executive order barring any US transactions with ByteDance, the Chinese tech company that owns TikTok. The order, which would take effect in 45 days, would ban the short-form video app from operating in the US if ByteDance doesn't sell TikTok. Microsoft could ink a deal to buy TikTok by Sept. 15.
