Nick Clements / MagnifyMoney.com Although the Federal Reserve has been consistently increasing interest rates, most savers have yet to feel the impact. At Bank of America, the highest advertised rate for a Rewards Savings Account is only 0.06 percent. A $25,000 deposit would generate a mere $15 during of interest over one year, before taxes. And Bank of America is not alone: Most traditional banks have stubbornly kept interest rates low on savings accounts while they happily increase rates on loans. The situation is different online, where competition has never been fiercer. Internet-only banks are engaged in a pricing war that shows no sign of slowing down. Well-known banking brands are making it easy for savers to earn at least 2.05 percent APY with an online savings account. Consider smaller bank brandsAnd if you are willing to experiment with smaller or lesser known bank brands, it is possible to earn 2.35 percent or more. Senior Apple executive has shunned the speculations of slow iPhone sales in global markets. Earlier this month, Apple announced the Q4 results for the quarter ending September. Thanks to a double-digit jump in service revenue, the company witnessed record earnings. But, the iPhone sales showed slow growth and Apple announced that it won't detail the actual number of iPhones shipped from the next quarter leading to speculations that the new 2018-series iPhones haven't been able to attract consumers. In recent weeks, reports also emerged that Apple asked the Chinese suppliers to cut down the production of iPhone XS, XS Max and the iPhone XR owing to low demand. However, Greg Joswiak, Apple vice president of product marketing in an interview with CNET has confirmed that the iPhone XR, on sale from October 26, has been the company best seller since the day one and continues to be the top model. With the official statement, Apple has refuted all the speculations of any slow demand and is … [Read more...] about Apple confirms iPhone XR is the best selling model from day one
As interest rates rise, smart consumers are shopping around for the best places to stash their cash. This is especially the case for consumers with savings in brick-and-mortar banks. These banks have been slow to raise their deposit rates in the last few years of rising interest rates. As consumers hunt for higher deposit rates, they should beware of potential gotchas that could cost them money and time. 1. Existing customers often lose out on the best rates It's common for banks to offer the best rates to new customers who bring in new deposits. Instead of raising interest rates on existing savings or money market accounts, banks will launch a new account with a rate higher than their existing account rates. This new account is marketed only to new customers. Sometimes when banks offer these new accounts, they will allow existing customers to open them. However, it's often up to the existing customer to find them. 2. Promotional CD rates will renew with much lower rates In … [Read more...] about 5 things your bank won’t tell you as interest rates rise
Apple's low-cost 2018-series iPhone XR hit stores in global markets including India in late October, a month after the launch of the high-end iPhone XS and the XS Max.The iPhone XR is the most affordable 2018-series Apple mobile with prices starting at Rs 76,900 for 64GB model, Rs 81,900 for 128GB and goes up to 91,900 for the 256GB variant.I had been using the iPhone XR for more than three weeks. Have to say, it lived up to my expectations and more than anything else, the camera's photo quality was a pleasant surprise for me. Here's my review of Apple's new mobile.Build quality and display:For some iPhone XR's vivid colour options—white, black, blue, yellow, coral orange and (PRODUCT) RED is reminiscent of the iPhone 5C, but the former by no means should be compared with the latter. The iPhone 5C had cheap plastic-body and the processor—A6-- was outdated compared to A7 (with additional co-processor) seen in its top-end sibling iPhone 5S.On the other hand, the iPhone XR has … [Read more...] about Is it Apple’s best ‘value-for-money’ mobile?
