Tonight you will hear from the man President Donald Trump appointed as his 2020 re-election campaign manager. His name is Brad Parscale, and he got the job because - as we first reported in October - Parscale was the president's secret weapon in his 2016 run for the White House. 42-year-old Parscale was one of the campaign's top decision-makers, operating largely out of public view. He was hired to run the digital team, but over time he came to oversee advertising, data collection and much of the fund-raising. He says his main task was competing with the Clinton Campaign's huge advantage in money and tv ads. What he decided to do was turn to social media, most importantly to Facebook. "I understood early that Facebook was how Donald Trump was going to win. Twitter is how he talked to the people. Facebook was going to be how he won." If scientists engineered the polar opposite of Donald Trump, a bizarro-world version of the rage-tweeting, fancy-living, drama-stirring mogul-turned-president, their lab might produce Gwen Graham. The former stay-at-home mom who hopes to become Florida’s first woman governor is almost everything Trump is not. She is a serial hugger, a frequent crier, a penny-pincher who buys her clothing at Target, an animal lover who posts pictures of her dogs and bunny on Facebook. The only organization she’s ever run was the PTA at her children’s school; the only time she’s spent in the public eye was as a one-term Democratic congresswoman. She’s a self-described nerd who hooks her granny-style glasses around her belt loop, an earnest consensus-builder who works so hard to find common ground that her ex-husband is her campaign treasurer. She listens. She empathizes. She exercises. She worries about her PolitiFact ratings. She’s so eager to learn that I watched her … [Read more...] about Do Democrats Want an Anti-Trump, or Their Own Trump?
Alleging a far-reaching conspiracy that contributed to Hillary Clinton’s loss in the 2016 election, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Friday filed a lawsuit against the Russian government, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and WikiLeaks. The same DNC, however, refused to allow the FBI to access its server to verify the allegation that Russia carried out a hack during the presidential campaign. Instead, the DNC reached an arrangement with the FBI in which a third party company, CrowdStrike, conducted forensics on the server and shared details with the FBI.As this reporter previously documented, CrowdStrike was financed to the tune of $100 million from a funding drive by Google Capital. Google Capital, which now goes by the name of CapitalG, is an arm of Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company. Eric Schmidt, the chairman of Alphabet, has been a staunch and active supporter of Hillary Clinton and is a longtime donor to the Democratic Party. It was … [Read more...] about DNC Sues Trump Campaign Over Russia ‘Hack’ – But Wouldn’t Allow FBI to Access Server to Verify
