Videogame publisher Activision Blizzard beat Wall Street estimates for fourth-quarter adjusted sales, thanks to the success of the latest game in its "Call of Duty" franchise. A string of launches in October and November, including "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II", "Warzone 2.0" and " World of Warcraft : Dragonflight" from the fantastical world of "Azeroth", helped the company hold the attention of the gaming community. Activision 's results are a bright spot as some of its industry peers including Electronics Arts , Take-Two Interactive Software and Xbox maker Microsoft have reported drab results. Here’s why Europe is abandoning plans to fly aboard China’s space station

February 7, 2023 by arstechnica.com Leave a Comment

Nearly six years ago the European Space Agency surprised its longtime spaceflight partners at NASA, as well as diplomatic officials at the White House, with an announcement that some of its astronauts were training alongside Chinese astronauts. The goal was to send European astronauts to China's Tiangong space station by 2022. "We were welcomed as colleagues and friends by the ‘taikonauts’ and the instructors," said European astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti at the time. "Language and cultural differences are obviously a challenge, but also adds value, as we are all focused on the common goal of space exploration." European astronauts did not fly to the Chinese space station in 2022, however, even though China completed its construction before the end of the year. In fact, Europeans are now unlikely ever to do so, even as the Tiangong facility flies for another decade, or longer, in low-Earth orbit. During his annual press briefing in late January, Josef Aschbacher, director … [Read more...] about Here’s why Europe is abandoning plans to fly aboard China’s space station

Best dedicated server hosting of 2023

January 12, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Opting for the best dedicated server hosting means picking a top-quality solution for your online needs. With a dedicated server, there's no sharing of CPU time, RAM or bandwidth, which means your website stays responsive at all times. Shared web hosting can appear to be amazing value, with feature-packed products available for just a few pounds every month. But the reality is often very different, and they're not always the bargains they seem. Cheap web hosting probably mean the web hosting provider is cramming more customers onto each server, for instance. Performance will be poor as there aren't enough resources to go around, and the extra load could mean more server problems and downtime. Dedicated hosting implies that you also get far more control over how the server is configured. You can add and remove software, install updates or tweak all settings, allowing you to optimize the server for your specific needs. Best of all, dedicated hosting contracts … [Read more...] about Best dedicated server hosting of 2023

Best domain registrar (February 2023)

January 19, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Picking the best domain registrar gives you a head start when it comes to creating a solid website. After all, your readers will find your site through your domain name (once you create one that's unique to your business). Registration isn't difficult, but first you must choose from the hundreds of companies competing for your business, and there are several things for you to consider before committing to one firm. A domain registrar is an entity that registers domain names with an international body called ICANN, which manages domain names (and TLD - top level domains such as .com or .org) globally. It therefore acts as a proxy and will make sure that you're the official recognized owner of that domain name. Some of the best website builder (opens in new tab) services and the best web hosting (opens in new tab) providers also offer domain registration services, which makes so much more sense to go for an all inclusive, one stop shop offer. To help you get started on … [Read more...] about Best domain registrar (February 2023)

*** SOTU Livewire *** Joe Biden Gives Second State of the Union Address

February 8, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

Democrat President Joe Biden is set to give his second State of the Union address as Commander in Chief of the United States on Tuesday evening before a joint session of Congress. The speech, set to begin at 9 p.m. ET, is Biden’s third address to a joint session of Congress, having given a first one in 2021, then his first State of the Union address in 2022. Now, he gives his second such address–an annual tradition for presidents speaking in the U.S. House chamber before Senators, House members, members of the Cabinet, and members of the U.S. Supreme Court. Biden’s address comes at a particularly fraught time for his presidency, just days after a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) spy balloon floated across the continental United States before the president ordered it shot down when it had moved off the South Carolina coast in the Atlantic Ocean. It also comes as Biden faces a special counsel investigation over his mishandling of classified documents from his time as Vice President … [Read more...] about *** SOTU Livewire *** Joe Biden Gives Second State of the Union Address

Elon Musk says Twitter has stabilized its finances after being close to bankruptcy, but the company still faces money problems and at least seven lawsuits alleging it stopped paying bills after Musk bought the social network. A new report says an attempt to boost Twitter Blue subscription revenue isn't paying off much yet, and a plan to charge for API access has angered users and developers. In a tweet on Sunday , Musk said he's had an "extremely tough" three months because he "had to save Twitter from bankruptcy, while fulfilling essential Tesla & SpaceX duties... Wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. Twitter still has challenges, but is now trending to breakeven if we keep at it. Public support is much appreciated!" Musk had said on November 4, 2022, that Twitter was losing over $4 million a day. He reduced Twitter's expenses by laying off half its staff, terminating thousands of contractors , and issuing an ultimatum that caused many employees to resign. After the … [Read more...] about Musk says he saved Twitter from bankruptcy, but it still has big money problems
