The 2021 House impeachment vote of former President Donald Trump was one of the most career-wrecking votes in congressional history, as 80 percent of the pro-impeachment members will exit Congress in 2023. With Rep. Cheney’s (R-WY) massive loss Tuesday evening in Wyoming, a mere two of the ten pro-impeachment Republicans remain in the House. Only Reps. David Valadao (R-CA) and Dan Newhouse (R-WA) remain. Newhouse hails from a safer red district, while Valadao is running for reelection in a more contested district, where Trump did not endorse anyone in the primary. Four pro-impeachment Republicans opted to retire and not compete in a GOP primary, which includes Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), Fred Upton (R-MI), and John Katko (R-NY). Another four pro-impeachment members lost their GOP primary: Reps. Peter Meijer (R-MI), Tom Rice (R-SC), Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA), and Cheney. With all pro-impeachment House primaries completed, attention will now turn to … [Read more...] about 80 Percent of Pro-Impeachment House Republicans to Exit Congress

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro Ongoing Review: Better Batteries, Bye Bezel
The Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are Samsung's latest wearables that want to be your go-to Android watch. Set for release on Aug. 26, along with the Galaxy Fold 4 and Flip 4 , they have bigger batteries, a new temperature sensor and a more durable design. But they lose the fan-favorite rotating bezel that the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic model still offers as an alternative to using a touch-sensitive rim. This year's watch comes in two variants : The Galaxy Watch 5 and a slightly larger, more rugged Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Apart from the construction, sports modes and battery capacity, they share most of the same features. So far, I haven't found that many significant differences warrant an upgrade from last year's Galaxy Watch 4 series given the software is largely unchanged and the new temperature sensor is not yet active. But the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is the more tempting proposition if you want a more durable watch with a bigger battery. With the Pixel Watch on the horizon and … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro Ongoing Review: Better Batteries, Bye Bezel

Airbnb Launches New Tools to Curb Partying
In efforts to expand its crackdown on unauthorized parties, Airbnb is rolling out new "anti-party" tech on the app, the company announced on Tuesday. After making its global party ban permanent in June, Airbnb shared that new software tools have been launched in the US and Canada. The updated tech aims to identify potential rule-breaking guests by examining review history, length of stay, distance to to a host's property and other indicators. In a blog post , Airbnb outlined its goal to "reduce the ability of bad actors to throw unauthorized parties which negatively impact our Hosts, neighbors, and the communities we serve." According to the company, the new system will prevent high-risk reservations for entire homes from being processed. Those guests may still be able to book private rooms in a shared space or other property where a host may be present. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky announced a ban on house parties back in 2019 after several people were shot and killed at a a … [Read more...] about Airbnb Launches New Tools to Curb Partying

Windows 11 22H2 feature update could arrive as soon as September 20
Something to look forward to: Microsoft's next major Windows 11 release was expected for the second half of this year. The first major feature update for Windows 11 is apparently arriving next month. According to Windows Central's Zac Bowden, there's nearly a dozen new notable additions and changes that will be accompanied by plenty of under the hood enhancements and bug fixes. In some areas, like the Start Menu and Taskbar, Microsoft is finally bringing Windows 11 up to par with the Windows 10 experience. Apple is allegedly threatening to fire an employee over a viral TikTok video
Apple is allegedly threatening to fire an employee who posted a TikTok video with basic iPhone security tips. The employee, Paris Campbell, says she was told that she breached company policy by identifying herself as an Apple employee and posting about Apple-related topics. The company’s social media policy warns employees against posting about customers, colleagues, or confidential information — but Apple doesn’t specifically bar employees from posting about the technology entirely. “We want you to be yourself, but you should also be respectful in posts, tweets, and other online communications,” an internal document reads. @stopitparis #stitch with @Stella this is so out of my content niche ♬ Love You So - The King Khan & BBQ Show Campbell, a single mother living in New York, has worked at Apple for nearly six years, most recently as a repair technician in Apple retail. Mobile app helps people manage their blood pressure
People with high blood pressure who used a smartphone app and at-home monitor were able to drive down their blood pressure, a new study showed. The program, called Hello Heart, lets people track their blood pressure, weight, and physical activity and offers tips on how to manage blood pressure. Around half of adults in the United States have high blood pressure, but only around a quarter of those people have the condition under control. It can be a tricky condition to manage, particularly if people are only getting measurements taken in the doctor’s office — where it can be higher (from the stress of a doctor’s visit) or lower (through a condition called masked hypertension) than it is at home. But it can be dangerous and puts people at risk for heart disease and stroke. Digital health approaches to managing blood pressure, which give people resources to track the condition at home, are appealing to doctors and researchers because they could be widely distributed. The Hello Heart … [Read more...] about Mobile app helps people manage their blood pressure
