The GTA V modder we just wrote about has been slapped with a DMCA takedown

July 6, 2022 by www.theverge.com Leave a Comment

Last Friday, we introduced you to Luke Ross : a modder who now makes $20,000 a month on Patreon bringing big games like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 to virtual reality. But the publisher of those games, Take-Two Interactive, was apparently not amused — and Patreon is now threatening to suspend his account unless he plays ball with a DMCA takedown. What does Take-Two want him to do? That’s not actually clear, but it’s looking like Ross will be forced to remove his VR mods anyhow. Here’s a copy of the message Ross says he received from Patreon on Wednesday morning, as provided to The Verge : Richard (Patreon) Jul 6, 2022, 8:54 AM PDT Hello, My name is Richard, and I’m contacting you from the Patreon Trust & Safety team We recently received a copyright claim for works you are making available on Patreon. Specifically, the claim comes from Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., parent company of Rockstar Games, Inc. and 2K Games, Inc., who owns … [Read more...] about The GTA V modder we just wrote about has been slapped with a DMCA takedown

Best standing desk for home office and WFH 2022

July 22, 2022 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

The best standing desks around today can help offset and prevent a sedentary lifestyle. The health benefits they offer to those of us who spend all day in front of our computers can’t be understated. We are not meant to sit around all day. Sitting down too long – more than 8 hours a day – as stated by the American Journal of Public Health (opens in new tab) , can not only increase the risk of chronic diseases by 10% to 20% but premature death as well. UK's NHS points out (opens in new tab) that it also could slow your metabolism, which could impact "the body's ability to regulate blood sugar, blood pressure and break down body fat." Unfortunately, most of us spend a large portion of our work life hunkered down at an office desk (opens in new tab) , which is why a standing desk is a great investment. Even students going back to school should consider one for a healthier way to do homework. To help you make the leap to a healthier work life, we’ve collected the best … [Read more...] about Best standing desk for home office and WFH 2022

I migliori portatili gaming compatti del 2022: potenti, sottili e leggeri

December 2, 2021 by global.techradar.com Leave a Comment

… [Read more...] about I migliori portatili gaming compatti del 2022: potenti, sottili e leggeri

My iPad Pro would be the best tablet ever if Apple borrowed this Huawei pad feature

July 28, 2022 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… While I often consider my iPad Pro a pretty great tablet, it's not perfect - and with Huawei launching a new slate that could hit our list of the best tablets , I'm reminded of a common issue I have with Apple's iPads. The new tablet is an updated version of the Huawei MatePad Pro called... well, with the same name, but we'll append (2022) so you know that we're talking about the new one. This new MatePad Pro has an 11-inch screen, like its predecessor, and the big upgrade over the 2021 model is in this display, as it uses OLED tech instead of LCD, and has a 120Hz refresh rate. The new tablet also has improved speakers, a redesigned rear camera bump, and software that's designed to be better for multi-tasking. When I was reading the press release on the new Huawei MatePad Pro, I wasn't sure that it was worth reporting on - Huawei hasn't provided a price or release date, or even said whether it'll be available to buy in any … [Read more...] about My iPad Pro would be the best tablet ever if Apple borrowed this Huawei pad feature

Locked-in syndrome and the misplaced presumption of misery

I n 1993, Julio Lopes was sipping a coffee at a bar when he had a stroke. He fell into a coma, and two months later, when he regained consciousness, his body was fully paralyzed. Doctors said the young man’s future was bleak: Save for his eyes, he would never be able to move again. Lopes would have to live with locked-in syndrome, a rare condition characterized by near-total paralysis of the body and a totally lucid mind. LIS is predominantly caused by strokes in specific brain regions; it can also be caused by traumatic brain injury, tumors, and progressive diseases like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. Yet almost 30 years later, Lopes now lives in a small Paris apartment near the Seine. He goes to the theater, watches movies at the cinema, and roams the local park in his wheelchair, accompanied by a caregiver. A small piece of black, red, and green fabric with the word “Portugal” dangles from his wheelchair. On a warm afternoon this past June, his birth country was … [Read more...] about Locked-in syndrome and the misplaced presumption of misery

While Punch-Out!! has been one of Nintendo's most beloved "fighting" series since its 1984 debut in arcades, it has rarely featured something common in the genre: a two-player mode. On Monday, however, that changed. The resulting discovery has been hiding in plain sight on the series' Super Nintendo edition for nearly 30 years. Should you own 1994's Super Punch-Out!! in any capacity—an original SNES cartridge, a dumped ROM parsed by an emulator, on the Super Nintendo Classic Edition , or even as part of the paid Nintendo Switch Online collection of retro games —you can immediately access the feature, no hacking or ROM editing required. All you need is a pair of gamepads. Finally, you can be the Mad Clown Credit goes to the coder responsible for the @new_cheats_news account on Twitter, which has routinely posted discoveries of leftover modes, menus, and gameplay features in classic games since 2014. Many of the account's findings require Game Genie codes or hex edits … [Read more...] about 28 years later,
