Reports about PlayStation 5 availability have been bleak for months, pretty much since the day the console was released. There was some excitement last week when the PS5 made a brief appearance at Walmart and GameStop, but any enthusiasm was short-lived when inventory predictably sold out within minutes. And so, once again, Sony's next-generation console is out of stock pretty much everywhere, at least at the list price. Right now the only consoles you can buy are marked up to obscene levels at reseller sites like eBay and StockX, often at multiple times their retail value of $400 or $500. The reason? Ordinary people have had to compete with bots and resellers, and the result is PS5s showing up on eBay for $1,300, as I discovered today. My advice is to resist the temptation to buy one of these grossly inflated consoles -- don't reward the resellers. … [Read more...] about PS5 restock news for Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, Amazon, Target and more

"The vulnerability is that on many, if not on almost all N66U units that have enabled https Web service access via the AiCloud feature, [they] are vulnerable to un-authenticated directory traversal and full sensitive file disclosure," Lovett wrote in his earlier dispatch. "Any of the AiCloud options 'Cloud Disk,' 'Smart Access,' and 'Smart Sync' (need another verification on this one) appear to enable this vulnerability." … [Read more...] about Dear Asus router user: You’ve been pwned, thanks to easily exploited flaw

Top weekend deals: Lenovo Smart Clock and 4 smart bulbs for $30, Battlefield 1 for under $1, more
We continue to be impressed with EarFun earbuds, which typically offer lots of great features, solid sound quality and genuinely good pricing. The EarFun Air, for example, is an AirPods alternative that mimics Apple's pipe design. Although it lacks active noise cancellation (instead relying on basic noise isolation), it includes both USB-C and wireless charging and in-ear detection. That means when you take an earbud out, your music autopauses. Great feature. … [Read more...] about Top weekend deals: Lenovo Smart Clock and 4 smart bulbs for $30, Battlefield 1 for under $1, more
Turn your desktop into an invisible wireless charging pad and get a $35 power bank for free
Years ago, when I first imagined wireless charging, my imagination pictured something a lot more like the Kew Labs UTS-1 than the ugly charging pucks and pads we routinely use these days. Instead of placing your phone on the equivalent of an electronic coaster, the UTS-1 attaches to the underside of your desk, so there's nothing visible on top. Just put your phone on the tabletop and it starts charging. As Arthur C. Clarke famously said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." The UTS-1 must be sufficiently advanced, because it looks like magic. And right now, Kew Labs is offering an exclusive deal for CNET readers. Buy the $105 UTS-1 and get the company's snazzy 10,000-mAh power bank for free, which is a $35 value. That's the equivalent of getting 25% off. … [Read more...] about Turn your desktop into an invisible wireless charging pad and get a $35 power bank for free
