When is the Pokémon Go Christmas event 2017? What's changed? The festivities kicked off on December 21 with a batch of temporary changes coming to the game as part of the Christmas event. Sadly it will be coming to an end on January 4. As part of the seasonal special event, Ice-type Pokémon will appear more frequently, and Santa hat Pikachu is back in the game. Like last year, you can evolve your Santa hat Pikachu into a Santa hat Raichu, and this year it's also possible to hatch a Santa hat Pichu.
