Microsoft last week announced measures to improve security management and transparency for Azure cloud services and Office 365.The features, which come from technology Microsoft acquired last year when it purchased Adallom, will bolster security in cloud apps such as Office 365, Box, Salesforce, ServiceNow and Ariba.A security app for Office 365 called "Microsoft Cloud App Security" will provide security management and reporting features that will give customers better visibility, control and security for data hosted in cloud apps, the company said.The reinforcements are the first of a series of planned measures. Microsoft on Tuesday announced that it has agreed to purchase data security firmSecure Islands.It will pay between $78 million and $150 million, according to reports, but company spokesperson Joel Sider declined to disclose the terms of the acquisition, which requires regulatory approval.Secure Islands' products will be integrated into the Azure Rights Management Service, but current clients can continue using its products for now, Microsoft said."Secure Islands intends to continue to sell and support its existing solutions," Sider told the E-Commerce Times. Microsoft on Monday announced the general availability of its Planner collaboration tool, which will roll out in the next few weeks to all eligible customers -- those who have Enterprise E1-E5, Business Essentials, Premium or Education subscriptions to Office 365.Planner lets users create new plans, as well as organize, assign and collaborate on tasks. Hootsuite on Tuesday announced an integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Yammer.The collaboration will let enterprises use social content in meaningful ways for social marketing, social selling, social customer support, and internal collaboration, noted Kevin Zellmer, Hootsuite's vice president of corporate and business development.There are more than 150 business-ready integrations in the Hootsuite App Directory, he noted.Enterprises will be able to "integrate social interactions into the entire customer journey," Zellmer told CRM Buyer.The Hootsuite dashboard now lets users identify and create leads, opportunities, contacts or cases and input them directly into Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.
