In a nutshell: Nintendo has shared the final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie ahead of its April 5 theatrical debut. Additionally, the Japanese gaming giant has launched its annual MAR10 Day festivities with discounts on some of its top games. The minute-and-a-half spot plays more like a video game trailer than a movie preview. It's the exact opposite of what Nintendo attempted to accomplish with its first Super Mario Bros. film back in 1993. "This Ain't No Game," that flick's movie poster read. Nintendo's latest effort features cutting-edge animation and a star-studded voice cast including Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen and Keegan-Michael Key, among others. Charles Martinet, who has voiced both Mario and Luigi in several games since the early 90s, will also appear in "surprise cameos" throughout the film. The film looks to be full of humor that'll get both kids and adults through the doors, and longtime fans will no doubt … [Read more...] about Nintendo shares final Super Mario Bros. There is no Banking Crisis in Europe, French Finance Boss Insists
Europe’s banking sector is not in crisis despite the collapse of two major players on the continent, a sector official in France has said. Despite claims to the contrary, Philippe Brassac, the head of the French Banking Federation (FBF), has insisted that there is no banking crisis currently plaguing Europe. The statement comes amid floundering investor confidence in European banking, with the collapse of major player Credit Suisse as well as the UK branch of the Silicon Valley Bank prompting concerns that the whole sector could be facing contagion. According to a report by Le Figaro , Brassac has rejected such a pessimistic outlook, insisting that problems with the current banking system are limited to the United States, and the European businesses in the sector will remain isolated from any issues. “There is no banking crisis,” the senior banker insisted regarding Europe, insisting that while “there are banks which are in difficulty”, these businesses are ultimately … [Read more...] about There is no Banking Crisis in Europe, French Finance Boss Insists

CD Projekt RED goes back to the drawing board with upcoming Witcher title
CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Witcher game, provisionally titled Project Sirius , seems to have hit a roadblock. In a regulatory statement published March 20, the developers behind one of the best RPGs of all time announced their intention to write-off funds (opens in new tab) allocated for the project. Project Sirus is in development at The Molasses Flood studio, which CD Projekt Red acquired in October 2021. The decision to write off 33.4 million Polish Zloty (roughly £6.25 million at the time of writing) resulted from an “evaluation of the scope and commercial potential of the original concept of Project Sirius ”. In the regulatory announcement, CD Projekt Red made it clear that “ongoing work” was needed to “formula[te] a new framework for this project.” In short, this statement strongly suggests that Project Sirius has undergone something of a reboot. Set in the Witcher universe, Project Sirius was initially supposed to differ from CD Projekt Red’s … [Read more...] about CD Projekt RED goes back to the drawing board with upcoming Witcher title
Many companies still don’t see the full value of cybersecurity
Despite news of devastating cyberattacks breaking almost daily, many business leaders still fail to see the full value a strong cybersecurity posture brings to their organization, new research has found This is according to Risky Rewards, a new report published by cybersecurity experts Trend Micro polling more than 2,700 business decision-makers in companies with 250+ employees across 26 countries, finding that around half (51%) see cybersecurity is a “necessary cost but not a revenue contributor”. At the same, a somewhat similar percentage - 48% - claim cybersecurity’s value is “limited” to attack and threat prevention. For nearly two-fifths (38%) cybersecurity is a barrier, not a business enabler. Winning new clients “If organizations want to make the most of their security (opens in new tab) investments, business leaders must reframe their view of cybersecurity – to think more broadly about how it can positively impact the enterprise,” commented Jon Clay, VP of … [Read more...] about Many companies still don’t see the full value of cybersecurity
Warhammer 40K: Boltgun is the boomer shooter I never knew I needed
Upcoming old-school FPS Warhammer 40k: Boltgun looks like a return to the genre's golden era and I couldn't be more excited. Warhammer 40K: Boltgun was announced back in June 2022 with only around 10 seconds of actual gameplay shown in the stylish retro teaser. Now I've had my first proper look at all the gory action, I can't wait to see how Warhammer 40k's beautifully over-the-top violence of the franchise translates to the Build Engine-inspired design of early 1990s shooters. No release date has been announced for Warhammer 40K: Boltgun yet, however, we know that it's coming to PS5 , Xbox Series X , Nintendo Switch , and PC as well as previous-gen consoles. That means you're unlikely to miss out when this title drops later this year. It's certainly one of my most anticipated upcoming games of 2023, along with the long-awaited Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 which is scheduled to launch this year as well. It looks like 2023 is shaping up to be a great … [Read more...] about Warhammer 40K: Boltgun is the boomer shooter I never knew I needed
