Take a trip to the glass display case at your local Apple Store today and you’ll see a brand new Apple Watch Series 4 inside. Available in two new sizes, 40mm and 44mm, a variety of new colors and bands, and sporting a 30-percent larger screen, it’s the most significant upgrade to Apple’s wearable yet.But all that newness comes at a price. Literally. The new entry-level Apple Watch costs $100 more than its predecessor, with some LTE aluminum models crossing the $500 threshold for the first time. And that’s before you get into the stainless steel and Hermes models. That means you’ll be spending at least $399 on a new Apple Watch Series 4 and $499 if you want cellular connectivity, a starting price of $50 more than the original and the highest entry-level threshold the Apple Watch has ever had.I don’t blame you if you aren’t jazzed about handing over $400 to $500 for an iPhone accessory. But thankfully, Apple is still selling the Series 3 version … [Read more...] about Apple Watch Series 4 has arrived but here are 5 reasons to buy a Series 3 instead
Best answer: If you have an Android phone, even one not made by Samsung, your Galaxy Watch will work great with it.Amazon: Samsung Galaxy Watch ($350) If you have a modern Android phone, you can use a Galaxy Watch In the past, Samsung locked its wearables to the Samsung experience. You needed to have a Samsung phone, and a fairly new one at that, to use its watches and fitness bands. The biggest reason for this was integration. Samsung has special software on its phones that only works when you have a Samsung account, and it's a lot of work to guarantee every phone would have the ability to run the additional Samsung apps without running into other problems. Instead of supporting the entire Android ecosystem, it was easier for Samsung to support only its own products. Since Samsung is the top Android manufacturer in the world, there was a good chance most of the people buying these wearables already had a Samsung phone. But the Galaxy Watch is a continuation of some forward progress in … [Read more...] about Can I use a Galaxy Watch even if I don’t have a Galaxy phone?
It’s almost a full week after Apple’s event and the Macalope still hasn’t dug out from the pile of goofball predictions made before it.Writing for Inverse, Mike Brown said the “Apple Watch Series 4 Leaks Indicate That a Messy Letdown Is in Store.” (Tip o’ the antlers 5cat.)Yeah that whole freaking electrocardiogram in a smartwatch was such a letdown, wasn’t it?What was it that tipped Brown off to the letdownening that most certainly happened? …a leaked product shot has already indicated that Apple still isn’t sure what to do when giving a user extra screen space on their wrist. You, a stupid: The new Watch has more screen space so they should add some more information to it.Me, a superbrain: No, they should remove information from … [Read more...] about A total letup: The Apple Watch Series 4

By now, everyone’s had a chance to check out the new iPhones and Apple Watches, study the differences, read reactions, and figure out which one they’re going to buy. And Apple has no doubt already sold millions of millions of them since pre-orders went live early Friday morning. If you bought one, you might have noticed something: you’re paying more. In some cases a lot more. Apple’s newest iPhone and Apple Watch lineup are its most expensive ever—as Tim Cook would say, “by far”—and based on the latest pre-order shipping estimates, customers so far seem more than happy to pay them.
