TL;DR: Twitter acknowledged a data breach that may have unmasked pseudonymous user accounts. While it didn't float any actual numbers, previous reports indicated a vulnerability exposed more than 5.4 million Twitter IDs and associated phone numbers and email addresses. Twitter patched the security hole in January, but a "bad actor" claims he used it the month before to scrape the data. Last week, Twitter confirmed that hackers had compromised some accounts on its platform. Developers created the flaw with a June 2021 update for its Android client, that allowed a bad actor to associate user accounts with email addresses and phone numbers. Twitter learned of the vulnerability through its bug bounty program in January 2022 and patched it immediately thinking that nobody had been affected. However, last month BleepingComputer reported it had found a database on a hacker forum containing the phone numbers and email addresses associated with over 5.4 million Twitter accounts. … [Read more...] about Twitter shut down a major security flaw but not before a hacker exposed 5.4 million users

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is official, brings Android 12L’s new taskbar
It's time for a new round of Samsung foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are official . Both devices hit stores on August 26, and the prices haven't changed from last year: It's $1,799 for the Fold 4 and $999 for the Flip 4 . The Z Fold 4—the one that opens up like a tablet—is getting a few millimeters wider this year, and it has a 6.2-inch, 120 Hz, 2316×904 outer OLED display. The Z Fold 3's outer display had a skinny 25:9 aspect ratio, but the Fold 4's is at 23.1:9, getting closer to a normal 19:9 aspect ratio. The inner display is wider, too—it's a 7.6-inch, 2176×1812, 120 Hz OLED display. The device's thickness hasn't really changed—when open, the phone is 6.3 mm thick, and it's 15.8 mm thick when folded up, thanks to the hinge gap. Other specs include a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4400 mAh battery with 25 W charging. Samsung puts the dust and water ingress rating at "IPX8," meaning there's no dust resistance, but the device is … [Read more...] about The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is official, brings Android 12L’s new taskbar

Oppo Reno 8 Pro review: Style and substance
Rating Critic 3.5 Top Features Striking design Great performance Dependable battery life A good-looking smartphone can often tilt the balance in its favour as it does play an important role in the buyers’ minds. Oppo has given us some of the best-looking smartphones with its Reno series. For years the formula had been the same – a spectacular design with impressive but not the greatest internals, and the Reno 8 Pro is no different. Priced at Rs 45,999, the Reno 8 Pro falls in the premium mid-range segment. While the design shouts premium, the internals are not-so-premium. The Reno 8 Pro comes with a powerful, if not the most powerful, Mediatek Dimensity 8100-Max paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Aiding the Dimensity chip is Oppo's own MariSilicon X NPU, promising to handle imaging chops. Then, there's an AMOLED display, a 50MP camera and a 32MP one on the front. , The thing with a lot of Oppo, OnePlus and … [Read more...] about Oppo Reno 8 Pro review: Style and substance
