There isn't a phone in the market today that can hold up to the POCO F1 when it comes to value. By offering a Snapdragon 845-powered phone for just $300, POCO has made every player in the smartphone industry stand up and take notice. $290 at Flipkart Pros Incredible value Flagship-level performance Outstanding battery life Cons Notched display No NFC Limited availability The OnePlus 6 continues to be a great choice in the $500 segment, but it does end up looking expensive next to the POCO F1. OnePlus has steadily hiked the price of its phones over the last four years, and while the $529 figure is still around half what you pay for a Note 9, there are plenty of phones in this segment that offer a similar package. $529 at OnePlus Pros Gorgeous AMOLED display Premium design Clean software experience Cons Notch No wireless charging Costly by comparison When we're talking about phones in this segment, we primarily focus on value. And right now, no device does that better … [Read more...] about POCO F1 vs. OnePlus 6: Which should you buy?
As a reviewer, part of my job is switching phones on a semi-regular basis, but up until recently, I've always come back to the Galaxy S9 when I'm done. It's the perfect size for me, the hardware is stunningly gorgeous and well-crafted, and I just can't get over how good the camera is, especially in low light. But while Samsung's software these days is leagues better than TouchWiz iterations of the past, it's still slow and clunky at times, even with the raw power of the Snapdragon 845. Performance isn't bad enough for me to stop recommending the S9, and it alone wasn't enough to drive me away from the phone, but compounded with the increasingly poor battery life I've been experiencing lately, I figured it was time to try something else. My OnePlus 6 had actually been sitting in a drawer with the rest of my review units since shortly after I got it; by the time my unit came in, we had already reviewed the phone on Android Central and compared it to just about every other phone on the … [Read more...] about Switching from the Galaxy S9 to the OnePlus 6 has only made me more excited for the 6T
If you're looking for the most feature-packed flagship in 2018, the Note 9 should be at the top of your list. The phone combines a gorgeous AMOLED display with high-end internals, the new S Pen enables new experiences, and the 4000mAh battery provides all-day battery life. $999 at Best Buy Pros Class-leading AMOLED display Fantastic cameras All-day battery IP68 dust and water resistance S Pen is much more useful Wireless charging Cons Bixby continues to be annoying Fast charging unchanged from 2015 The OnePlus 6 shows that phones don't need to cost $1,000. You get the latest internal hardware available today, and OxygenOS offers a software experience that's one of the best on Android. That said, the notch at the top of the display mars the overall experience. $529 at OnePlus Pros Excellent performance Fluid and clutter-free software Decent cameras Great value Cons Display notch No wireless charging If you're looking to get a phone that offers the best value for your … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy Note 9 vs. OnePlus 6: What does the extra $500 get you?
Here's something I heard a lot from viewers when I said that Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 was actually worth the thousand bucks it costs: "no, dude." See, it turns out a lot of folks don't think any smartphone is worth a four-figure price point, no matter how fully-featured it is. It's not just viewer feedback, either; I listen to a lot of tech podcasts, and nearly every time the Galaxy Note 9 was brought up in conversation this week, another smartphone was hot on the tongue of the next host: the OnePlus 6. You might remember the OnePlus 6 as the smartphone I lightly chastened in my review for being the most expensive of its formerly-very-affordable line. But here's the thing: it's also one of the best Android phones of 2018 – and at a mere $530, it's almost 50% less expensive than Samsung's Galaxy Note 9. That's not just a price gap; it's a price canyon. Given how much I enjoy using both of these smartphones, I wanted to know just how the two fared when put head-to-head. So join me … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy Note 9 vs. OnePlus 6: MrMobile’s $500 dilemma
