With the recent launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro and Honor 20 Pro, many of you may be wondering how you should spend your money. Despite offers incredible specs and high-end cameras, there are quite a few differences which set these phones apart. We’ll break things down by category, but we’re going to leave the final decision up to you. Design Both Honor and OnePlus deserve a lot of credit for the designs of their new flagship smartphones. They’re both built with metal frames and have curved glass backs, but Honor has put in a bit more work into it this year by adding an additional 3D layer which gives the glass a sense of depth. If Honor is to be believed, only 20% of the glass panels which are produced are actually used since the others don’t meet the company’s standards. That being said, the OnePlus 7 Pro is quite stunning and we’re enamored with the Almond color option. OnePlus also gets a lot of points for delivering a gorgeous edge-to-edge display … [Read more...] about Honor 20 Pro vs. OnePlus 7 Pro: which one should you buy?
Fiery Feeds is my favorite RSS reader app on iOS. It strikes the perfect balance between power, good looks, and ease of use. For instance, you can customize the entire look of the app with themes, you can set it to share stories to your chosen apps with a single swipe, and the whole thing is navigated with swipes. Version 2.2 just showed up, and it’s a biggie. Apart from some neat UI changes, Fiery Feeds now has iCloud syncing, and its own built-in Instapaper alternative. Fiery Feeds is a news reader app. You subscribe to any website (pretty much every site it compatible, thanks to RSS being built into most blog and website-hosting software), and you see all the new stories and updates from those sites in one place. You can organize sites into folder, tag them, share them, and read them in a beautiful, clean view, without malware-stuffed ads, and other crap. Imagine Twitter, only without the poison and idiotic opinions, and with the added bonus that you never miss out on a story … [Read more...] about Fiery Feeds adds Instapaper-like universal read-later service
During Sony's investor relations (IR) day 2019, the company revealed that Sony Santa Monica's PS4 exclusive God of War had surpassed 10 million lifetime sales worldwide. This comes nearly one year after the game's release, and one week since the Raising Kratos documentary was released on YouTube, detailing its long development. Though we don't know exact sales figures, this is the first title in the series to surpass 10 million units sold. The IR day 2019 presentation highlights a graph that showcases PlayStation's increasing franchise strength through God of War, Uncharted, and The Last of Us. From the looks of it, God of War (PS4) more than doubled God of War II's sales on the PlayStation 2, and also saw a significant increase over God of War III. God of War never received any DLC — the idea was scrapped for apparently being "too ambitious" according to Creative Director Cory Barlog — but it appears to have done just fine without the extra content padding out the … [Read more...] about God of War has passed 10 million sales worldwide
Here's something you don't hear often: the dead field mouse looks incredible for its age. It lived and died three million years ago in what is now Germany, but layers of rock preserved nearly its whole skeleton, along with most of the fur and skin on its body, feet, and tail. Even its tiny, delicate ears were preserved. Thanks to new imaging methods and a better understanding of the chemistry behind pigment in animal fur and feathers, we now know that it had reddish-brown fur with a white underbelly. Paleontologists have had the tools to detect patterns of light and dark coloring in fossil feathers for a few years, but this is their first real glimpse of a colored pigment. It comes in colors The range of colors in animal fur comes from varying amounts of two types of a pigment called melanin. Eumelanin produces black or dark brown coloring, while pheomelanin creates reddish or yellow hues. Pheomelanin doesn’t tend to hold up well over the millions of years most fossils are … [Read more...] about X-rays reveal the colors of a 3 million-year-old fossil mouse
