By Madison Iszler Published 5:42 pm CDT, Saturday, October 13, 2018 Some AT&T customers in Comal County are having trouble calling 911 Saturday, according to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office. A message on the county’s Facebook page reported that AT&T customers were receiving messages telling them: “Due to local telephone trouble in the area you are calling, your call cannot be completed at this time.” RELATED: Missing driver recovered from Sabinal River identified The post also mentioned that customers attempting to reach the New Braunfels Police Department, and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and San Antonio Police Department were having the same issue. Both BCSO and SAPD say they currently are not experiencing the reported service issues. But an SAPD spokeswoman said if anyone in the San Antonio area does experience trouble getting through to 911, they should call the non-emergency number at 210-207-7273. The CCSO reports that AT&T is aware of the outage and are working to fix it. Attempts to reach AT&T were unsuccessful as of Saturday afternoon. It is unknown if the issue impacts just emergency numbers for those customers experiencing the problem. The sheriff’s office told affected Comal-area residents to use a home phone or a cell phone from another provider, if possible. Staff Writer Chris Quinn contributed to this report.
